Hiking and wellness in Chamonix

Thermalism in the country of Mont Blanc is a tradition of centuries on the french side and a thousand years old on the Italian side as the Romains were already going into the region for the virtues of its water. We offer your a trip alternating discovery hiking and Thermes care treatments. You will appreciate the warm water of St Gervais, excellent for the skin and the magnificent complex of Pré St Didier, near Courmayeur in the Aosta Valley. 

Itinerary

  • Day 1 Welcome to St Gervais

    On Sunday night, we will welcome you at the Saint Gervais train station. We'll have diner together and spend the night in a very friendly and warm hotel.

  • Day 2 Contamines-Montjoies, the chalets du Truc and the Mont Joly mountain pastures

    From the hamlet of Frasse in Contamines-Montjoies, we will climb up to the Chalets du Truc. We'll arrive in a charming mountain pasture facing Mont Joly with an impressive view of on the Dômes du Miage, the Tricot pass and the Aiguille de Bionnassay (4052m). We can descend to a very welcoming mountain lodge afterwards. Late in the afternoon, we'll enjoy some treatments in the St Gervais thermal baths. The thermal waters, coming from the Mon Blanc glaciers, have therapeutic virtues renowned especially for the skin : you ill leave with a soft and silky skin !

  • Day 3 St Nicolas de Veroce, the baroque path, a true gem !

    St Nicolas de Véroce, visit of the baroque church, a marvel ! Its interior is entirely decorated with paintings telling the story of Saint Nicolas's life, the parish owner. A monument wealthy in colors and decorations.
    We'll then join the mountain pathways for reach the Joly ridge. The panorama on the Mont Blanc massif is unique. The bravest will try to reach the summit of Mont Joly (2500m). Visit of the Ferme des Marmottes where geese, chickens, rabbits, goats and cows are waiting for you. After this journey in the mountain pastures, we'll get back to St Gervais for a new session of relaxation in the Thermes.

    3 to 4 h of hiking / Night in the hotel

  • Day 4 Chamonix, Lac Blanc and Aiguilles rouges, facing Mont Blanc...

    From St Gervais, we'll join the Valley of Chamonix for a hike in the Aiguilles Rouges massif. First, we'll take the Flégère cable car. All the way up to the Lac Blanc, we will admire the glaciers surrounding us : Glacier du Tour, d'Argentière, Les Grands Montets and Taconnaz, and the mythical summits such as the Grandes Jorasses, the Aiguille Verte, the Aiguilles de Chamonix and many others. The descent will take place in a wilder environment, near the Cheserys lakes. Little energizer swim in the fresh water of these lakes !
    We will then get back to Chamonix, and hop on a minibus towards Italy by the Mont Blanc tunnel. Hotel in Courmayeur.

    4 to 5h of hiking / Night in the hotel

  • Day 5 The Arpy and Pierre Rouge lakes, exceptional panoramas !

    We take the road to Courmayeur. We climb up to the ARpy lake (1951m), a very pleasant walk in the forest. For the most sportive, the ascent will continue to the Lac de Pierre Rouge.. ! A breathtaking view with the Mont Blanc massif in the background. Descent to Arpy to then head in direction of Thuile and the Pré Saint Didier Thermes. Great moment of relaxation in a beautiful environment, a place out of time that offers well-being with wisdom and the tradition of the ancient romain thermes, renowned thanks to the relaxing qualities of their waters. This evening, it is a total rest for our body and spirit.

  • Day 6 The Val Sapin and the refuge of Bertone

    From Courmayeur, we climb up through the Val Sapin and its flowery paths towards the Bertone refuge, located at 1989m of altitude in the pasture of Le Pré, at the feet of Mont de la Saxe. A breathtaking point of view on the Grands Jorasses and Mont Blanc, Italian side. Last thought for Walter Bonnati, famous Italian alpinist and owner of this place, before returning to Chamonix by the Mont Blanc tunnel in the afternoon.

Terms and conditions

Inscription

By booking one of our travels, the customer bindingly accepts the general terms and conditions of sale. Each customer must fill a registration form. The booking is definitively registered when the customer has settled the payment of a deposit of 30 % of the total trip's price (subject to availability at the time of registration). In case of short term booking – within 30 days before the travel departure, the full trip's price is due immediately. Payments can be settled via bank transfer (SWIFT code/IBAN number) or online, directly from our website (available soon). You will receive an email with a booking confirmation as quickly as possible.

Facturation

Once your booking registered, we send you an email with the invoice. Full payment is required at least 30 days before your arrival. If the customer does not settle the payment of the travel's price within the period agreed upon, Altaï Alpes gets the right to cancel the booking without additional charges.

Annulation

For any reason, if you decide to withdraw from a trip, the amount already paid will be refunded subject to the following exceptions:       
  • Cancellation up to 45 days before the agreed beginning of the trip: You will be charged 20 % of the travel's price, in addition with every non-refundable expenses for additional services booked on request (internal flights, site entrance tickets, activities…)   
  • Cancellation between 44 and 15 days before the agreed beginning of the trip: You will be charged 50 % of the travel's price, in addition with every non-refundable expenses for additional services booked on request (internal flights, site entrance tickets, activities…)
  • Cancellation less than 14 days before the agreed beginning of the journey: You will be charged 100 % of the travel's price, in addition with every non-refundable expenses for additional services booked on request (internal flights, site entrance tickets, activities…)

Any cancellation shall be notified in writing (email, letter or fax). The cancellation will be effective as soon as we receive your written statement. If we notice early that the minimum number of participants for a trip cannot be reached, Altaï Alpes will exercise its right of withdrawal immediately. In that situation, you will be informed of the cancellation of your travel no later than 21 days before the agreed beginning of the journey. Altaï Alpes can also cancel a travel in case of major circumstances such as volcanic eruption, civil disturbances, strikes, weather and climate conditions, in order to ensure traveler's security… In such cases, you will immediately be refunded of any payments. However, you will not be entitled to any compensation.

Modification du contrat

If any change is made in the travel's contract at the customer’s request, any fee that might arise from this change shall be paid by the customer. In any cases, every request for changes shall be notified in writing. In case of external events that could not be foreseen, Altaï Alpes might change some aspects of the travel contract. We will endeavour to inform you of any change as quickly as possible.

Prix et révision des prix

All travel prices for groups on our website have been calculated for the indicated number of participants. The price list is confirmed after the booking. If the number of participants is lower than expected, an additional payment charge might be applied. For each travel and program, we mention the price per person – valid for the minimum number of participants – and we provide you with detailed explanations about the services included or not. Any change, of the currency exchange rates or on the price of travel's services in particular regarding the cost of the fuel, might entail price revision.

Cession du contrat

In case of transfer of the contract by the customer to an assignee, modification and cancellation conditions will be applied.

Insurance

We recommend you to get your own insurance before your departure to cover the activities undertaken by Altaï Alpes. Please email us your insurance contract information (insurance company's name, contract number, phone number) and bring this information with you during your trip.

Required level

This itinerary is accessible to every hiker with a medium level. Steps are short and the difference in altitude are small (800m maximum). It is thus not necessary to be an athlete to do this trip !
